Love Always Equine Sanctuary

Love Always Equine Sanctuary is a grassroots 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the small rural town of Barker, in upstate New York. The sanctuary sits on more than 40 acres with two barns and several outbuildings, room enough to care for equines of every age and condition.

The sanctuary grew out of its founder’s lifelong love of horses. That passion took shape into a plan during a stretch of volunteering at a rescue in southern Ohio that saves nurse foals, the newborns pulled from nurse mares and often discarded within days of birth. The plan became real on May 20, 2019, the day the farm opened its gates. Love Always Equine rescues unwanted, abused, and neglected equines of all ages, from nurse foals that need a home on their first day of life to the horse or donkey left in a pasture to die.
